Pantone announced their color of the year for 2018:

Pantone Color of the year post presented by e-Designer Calm & Collected

What do you think?

Pantone describes the color as “complex and contemplative.” They say, “Ultra Violet suggests the mysteries of the cosmos, the intrigue of what lies ahead, and the discoveries beyond where we are now.” Their description does seem apt when you consider the “photo” above.

When toned down with white trim, this color makes a very regal room as seen in this example from Decorare:

It makes a great, bold accent wall in a kid’s room as seen in this photo shared by Nerolac Paints:Interior Decorator Calm & Collected shared this interior design photo of a purple room from Nerolac Paints

You can bring ultra violet into your home through bedding like this 8 piece set found on Wayfair**:

Or maybe just a few accent pieces like GZ Interior Design used in these pillows and chairs in this living room:  Ultra Violet would also look great on the outside of a home! How about on the front door?

Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute, said, “We are living in a time that requires inventiveness and imagination. It is this kind of creative inspiration that is indigenous to PANTONE 18-3838 Ultra Violet, a blue-based purple that takes our awareness and potential to a higher level. From exploring new technologies and the greater galaxy, to artistic expression and spiritual reflection, intuitive Ultra Violet lights the way to what is yet to come.”

Sounds good to me!

Pantone announced their color of the year for 2017: HGow to use Pantone's color of the year: Greenery--in your own home!

What do you think?

Pantone describes the color as “a fresh and zesty yellow-green shade that evokes the first days of spring when nature’s greens revive, restore and renew.” I certainly love the description!

Pantone's color of the year: GreeneryWhile I wouldn’t want a whole room this color, there are plenty of ways to use it. It would make a striking accent wall in a mostly white kitchen like this one found on WB Tourism:  Fabulous White Kitchen Lime Green Accent Bethesda Contemporary Homeor in this bedroom by Panache Interiors:by panache interiors

You can bring greenery into your home through bedding or a bench like these from Casanova Design Group: bedding

Or maybe just a few accent pieces like Ann Hepfer Designs used in these pillows and the back of the bookcase in this living room: accents

Greenery is a great color for bringing the outdoors inside, but it would also look great on the outside! door

Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute, said, “Greenery bursts forth in 2017 to provide us with the hope we collectively yearn for amid a complex social and political landscape. Satisfying our growing desire to rejuvenate, revitalize and unite, Greenery symbolizes the reconnection we seek with nature, one another and a larger purpose.”

I won’t argue with that!
