Freebie Friday- It's a good day to have a good day printable from calmandcollected.usI have been alternating Freebie Fridays between offering you printables I have made and sharing links to printables by others.  This week I am supposed to share some links, but honestly, it takes hours and hours to put together one of those posts and I have been too busy with design work this week! So, I’m going to share with you another printable made by me!  You can use it alone or in a gallery wall!  See my tips on hanging a gallery wall all by yourself with no measuring!

At the moment, I don’t know how to get you a printable version of this other than to send you an e-mail!  If you’ll comment on this post (your e-mail will not be published!), I’ll send you a file that you can print out.  Do you have a quote or something you’d like to see as a printable?  Let me know!  Thanks for visiting Calm and Collected- The Blog! Freebie Friday- bible quote" I know the plans I have for you..." from calmandcollected.usIt’s time for Freebie Friday. This quote is a good reminder to us all!  This freebie can be printed very large.  You can use it alone or include it in a gallery wall.  For anyone interested- it is a photo I took coming home from work in Oxford, PA. I actually had it made up as a large canvas for the men’s room in our church! Be sure to check out my other Freebie Friday posts. I’ve been alternating between sharing a printable I’ve made and sharing links to printables made by fellow bloggers. This post of Black & White Printables is my most popular so far.

Create a Gallery Wall in 6 easy steps-all by yourself with no measuring! calmandcollected.us

I’ve taken on the moniker “Gallery Girl”.  It started as sort of a joke and now my clients actually call me “Gallery Girl”.  I have created a lot of gallery walls in the many homes we have lived in over the years.  I have helped clients both locally and up and down the east coast (via the internet) create gallery walls in their homes, too! These are the instructions I give my clients.  You can do this all by yourself, with no measuring!

First of all, I would like to state that there is no right or wrong way to put together a gallery wall.  There are no “rules”, but there are some tricks to making them cohesive and pleasing.

You can make them cohesive using matching frames and mats or using mats and frames that are all the same color even if they don’t quite match.  This is what Emily Clark did in this home office by Emily A. Clark Interiors:

Gallery Wall with white mats and mismatched black frames.

Gallery Wall with white mats and mismatched black frames.

I’m a big fan of an eclectic gallery wall where all the frames are mismatched and there are objects besides photos.  I wanted a casual beach theme for my bedroom and I believe what makes my gallery wall cohesive is that all the items fit the beach theme.  Note that a gallery wall is also the best way to deal with this bend in the wall which would have made using one large piece of art very awkward.

Create a Gallery Wall in 6 easy steps all by yourself! All items on this wall and dresser have a beach theme. Calmandcollected.us

All items on this wall and on the dresser have a beach theme.

So here are six simple steps to creating a gallery wall that you can hang all by yourself:

1.  Gather your items.  You could do this on one shopping trip or over the course of several years.  It took me about a year to compile the items for my wall.  I had been waiting for one last large piece to anchor the wall when I came across the painting of a girl playing in the sand in the center of the photo.

2.   Lay your items out on the floor in front of the wall where you will hang them. Play with the configuration until you are happy with it.

Lay your objects out on the floor. (Pay no mind to not-so-pleasant carpet. It came with the house!)

3.  Trace each item onto a piece of newsprint. Be sure to trace the placement of the hangers.  This is how you get away without measuring!

4. Use painter’s tape to tape each piece of newsprint on the wall in the desired configuration. Step back and make sure you like the overall effect. Adjust if necessary.

5.  Hammer a nail into the newsprint in the spot where you’ve marked the hanger.

6.  Hang the picture, remove the newsprint, repeat.

That’s it!  That’s all there is to it!  These are the actual instructions I give my e-design clients.  If you enjoyed this post, I’d love for you to click the follow button in the lower right corner of your screen or follow my blog with Bloglovin.

As I mentioned before, I’ve been collecting links for free printables on a board on Pinterest.  My thought is that these will be perfect for filling in gaps in a gallery wall. (Gallery walls are a large part of my e-design business.)  I’ve been culling through all my links.  Some of the links are dead.  And a lot of the pins are a jumble of random free printables.  12 Free Black and White Printables great for using in your gallery wall. Curated by Calm & Collected.

I’ve decided to start categorizing some of my favorites to share with you!  Today- an awesome collection of Black and White printables.  As you can see in the graphic I made, they look great together!  But you can also use them to fill gaps in your own gallery wall. All of these are for personal use only.

Let’s look at where they came from:

Framed black ampersand

You can find this ampersand and a whole alphabet over at Carissa Miss.  She designed this set as a gift for her brother-in-law.  Framed black Botanical watercolor

Corina over at Cocorina painted this watercolor botanical herself.  It may not be anything you can find           growing anywhere- she pulled it from her own imagination.

Framed Be yourself/Batman print

I don’t know why, but this quote cracks me up!  Angie made this one and a few others to decorate kids’ rooms over at Little Inspiration.

I Like Boring Things Andy Warhol quote

Elsie Larson whipped up this Andy Warhol quote print for her own gallery wall. I found it at A Beautiful Mess.

Quote "I'm creative you can't expect me to be neat, too." Printable

This is funny because it is true!  When I am in creative mode, I leave a mess wherever I go!  Katie made this printable in both a chalkboard and non-chalkboard look on her blog: Mountain Modern Life. As a little aside, Katie and her husband Eric are packing up their 1700 square foot home and moving into their 300 square foot RV to travel for a year! Head over to her blog to follow their adventures!

Printable quote "How Wonderful life is now you're in the world."

Can you even read this quote without singing Elton John?  Jen made this printable as part of a set over at Craft-o-Matic.

Brownie camera printable

Catherine has two amazing photos that she took of two of the cameras in her collection over at Design Editor.  Bonus: these can be blown up to 24 x 36 poster size prints!

Printable pointing finger

I have a pointing finger in one of the gallery walls in my home and lots of people ask me about it.  When I saw this free printable from Double-M on FLickr, I knew I had to share.

White bike on black background printable

This is one of two free prints Desirée is offering on her blog, The 36th Avenue.  She made them for her entryway gallery wall.

Coffee spoons printable

Karen has lots and lots of free graphics like these coffee spoons on The Graphics Fairy.  I have been following her and getting her e-mails for years!

Pineapple printable

The pineapple, an age-old symbol of welcome.  Audrey has made this free printable in 3 different colorways. Check it out on her blog, Oh So lovely.

Mandala printable

This is actually one of four Mandala-like printables made by Cyndy over at The Creativity Exchange.  Be sure to pop over to her blog and see them all! It was hard to choose just one!
